Traditional Aboriginal dance and boomerang throwing

Uncle Warren Foster attended Bega Valley Public School to teach students about traditional Aboriginal dance and boomerang throwing.

Uncle Warren spoke to the kids about the significance of his traditional dances and their meaning to him, his family and his people. He taught the kids a mixture of women’s and men’s dances, which included the berry-picking dance (women’s), fishing/hunting dance (men’s) and the kangaroo dance (men’s and women’s).

Uncle Warren also taught the students how to throw a boomerang. The students thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Our thanks to Uncle Warren for sharing part of his culture with us; the students at Bega Valley Public School really enjoyed it.
